Ah, hello Emily. Sorry I couldn't greet you at the door.
[ once Emily enters the apartment, she'll find Eli sitting at the table in the small living room area. he has a blanket wrapped around him and what looks to be a strange vial set up on the table before him.
there's also the small trash bin held in his arms that may or may not indicate the man is likely seconds away from throwing up his earlier meal. assuming he hasn't already. ]
To put a long story short, I got bit by a tsuchinoko helping the Medicine Woman get some of its venom. There's.. anti-venom that she gave me but.. [ which explains the vial on the table ] I wanted to check with you first.
[she moves on nothing more than reflex, swift and precise, descending near him and immediately pulling out her tools from her bag. antiseptic, an empty syringe, a bandage. picking up the vial, she reads the instructions on it and shakes her head before she takes Eli's arm, looking for the right vein in his elbow to prep the area.]
You've been suffering needlessly - if you distrusted it, you should have either asked her or called me immediately. Really, it wouldn't have been a bother, and when it comes to the peculiarities of this world, her advice actually outranks my own.
[drawing the right amount into the syringe, she pauses in her mini lecture and glances to Eli's face.]
I'm going to need you to stay as still as you can. This requires me to administer it slowly.
[regardless of anything she said, when she slides the needle in, he'll hardly feel it - a testament to how much practice she's had. slow, careful, with the injection. too much at once and it would make him feel worse before he felt better. no need to exaggerate his problems.]
I-it's a bit difficult to take myself with the side effects..
[ not wishing to rile the Doctor even further, he gently explains as he tries to pry a hand off from around the basket with a slight stiffness in his joints. fortunate that the paralysis wasn't too much. there are little to no complaints as he allows his friend to take his arm in tow to prep.
of course, he could have asked Naib but.. he didn't want to pressure and stress his partner out by asking him to do such a thing. which is precisely why he asked for the Doctor. ]
I didn't distrust it, she's quite open with her business and what she does so I could tell she was telling the truth but. The venom is only deadly in large numbers, with numerous bites, I suppose I was a bit too hopeful that a small minor bite was capable of being rested off.
[ it was bad judgement on his part. even hiding it from Six after their encounter with the nest. he nods at her instructions, trying not to be too stiff or shake but easier said than done, huh? even so, Eli keeps his gaze on where the needle inserts and hums after at the inquiry. there has always been complete trust in Emily's procedures and it's no different now. ]
The closest thing that resembles them would be snakes. Though, they're on the pudgy side.. quite cute, actually. They're so small and short I didn't expect them to be quite the jumpers! I'm just fortunate I didn't get more of them chomping down on me.. Ms. Himiko says they would've certainly tried to numb my body entirely and eat me alive.
[ not exactly a pleasant thought, but after the first chomp he was quick enough to dodge any others and get the venom they needed for the woman. he shouldn't need too much of the antivenom.. so he was planning on giving the rest of it to the Doctor on the chance she needs it in the future. ]
[the pointed roll of her eyes says exactly what she thinks of his "sleeping it off" plan, but her hand doesn't waver with the injection. slowly, slowly letting it trickle in. he's doing quite well with staying steady for it. it's about half empty at this point, and it has to continue.]
Please tell me you weren't facing them down alone. Even though I know you're capable of enough feats of agility, I'd hope you at least brought someone. Naib?

What even is a tsuchinoko anyway?
